Callaway: Art-Led Interior Design in Carlton Woods

Our clients are world travelers, and the places they have stayed have shaped what they love. The Wynn in Las Vegas and The Post Oak Hotel in Houston were particular favorites. Both have a confidence about them. Beautiful spaces, strong art and a sense of occasion that stays with you.
They wanted to bring that feeling into their Carlton Woods home, while creating something personal, comfortable, and suited to the way their family lives.
Designing a Home Around Art

The scale of the artwork drove many of our decisions. These pieces needed room to breathe and interiors that could hold their own around them. We kept much of the furniture quieter, using shape, texture and proportion to create interest. The art brings the color, energy, and personality.
Our clients wanted the home to feel minimal and lush. Rich, but not overly decorated. Impressive, but still comfortable. That restraint is what allows each choice to matter.
The great room captures this balance particularly well. The pale upholstery and sculptural furniture create a calm foundation for the clients’ art collection. Nothing competes, yet the room still has presence.
A Cooler Approach to Mediterranean Architecture

The original house had many of the hallmarks of 1990s Mediterranean design. Heavy finishes, ornate details and a formality that no longer suited the family.
We did not want to erase the architecture that gave the home its character. We wanted to make it cooler.
By removing visual weight, simplifying finishes and introducing cleaner furniture forms, we gave the existing architecture a more current point of view. The result feels fresh without feeling disconnected from the house itself.
We were also conscious of resale. The permanent selections needed longevity and broader appeal. The family’s personality could then come through in the art, furnishings and layers that can evolve with them.
Livable Luxury for a Family

This is a beautiful home, but it is also a home with children.
Our clients entertain often and wanted the rooms to feel impressive when filled with guests. They also wanted to live comfortably without worrying about every spill, footprint, or imperfect moment.
Fabrics were selected for performance as carefully as they were for color and texture. Furniture needed to be genuinely comfortable. Each room had to earn its place in the family’s everyday life.
The children’s spaces were given that same level of consideration, complete with custom built-in bunks. They feel playful and personal while remaining connected to the rest of the home.
Indoor and Outdoor Entertaining

Indoor and outdoor entertaining were considered together from the beginning. The covered living and dining areas allow guests to move naturally between the house, pool and garden.
The outdoor spaces carry the same quiet palette and tailored comfort as the interiors. They feel like a true continuation of the home rather than a separate design moment.
Callaway is worldly, polished, and personal. It makes an impression, but it still feels easy to live in.
For us, that is the luxury.
